100% Orange Juice Night and other games

Postby Sarusig » December 28th, 2014, 5:45 am

Alright guys, here is the dealio.

Sephiko, Lead Luigi, potato_sniff and I just played 3 and a half games of 100% Orange Juice.
For those unaware, 100% OJ is a nice little board game with some strategic depth and quite a lot of RNG. You can think, but ultimately beginners have a shot. It has a really nice anime theme with colourful graphics, cartoony sound design and pretty cool jazz most of the time in the background. I'm not big on animu, but that's actually very fun, and pretty slick.

100% OJ is a 4 players game with a chat and the possibility to have spectators. It would be really easy to do short 20 mins games (or even shorter once players know their cards) and switch players between games, or even have 2 tables.

Now I met with these duders because I meet Taters and Lead every Saturday for business purposes and Sephiko is almost always on. But on Saturday to Sunday evening, a lot of you guys seem to be on, and I know a lot of you have 100% OJ. Krawky, Earth, Stopmotioncreator (Lodestar), Nixitur, even Iso himself.

So after the games, Seph and I thought it would be a cool idea to do a forum topic, because honestly before the forum, I would never get a chance to actually talk with you guys outside of Iso's streams. Now we actually get a chance to do stuff, and call me sappy, but I'd love to enjoy this big dysfunctional family we have here.

So I'll start, and we'll see if people bite. Feel free to use this topic to plan other stuff you'd love to do with the Isocination.

Game: 100% Orange Juice
Date: 10th to 11th of January (Saturday to Sunday)
Starting Time: 2GMT link to time converter
Ending Time: When we drop dead (around 5 for me)
Number of spots: Four players, but spectators and chat allows for quick rotations
Probable attendees: Potato (mid), Lead (expert), Sephiko (expert), me (mid), Lunatic Quark (EMPEROR), and hopefully some of you guys too.

See you guys there. <3
If you think you will attend, please leave a message too~

I love board games, so I'll give it a try!

I have never played or heard of this game before, so I am an ultra-beginner.

Eh don't worry too much about it. If you can throw a virtual dice and read cards, you already have all the required skills. =)

A little advice: read the in-game guide, learn the characters and cards, play some of the campaign to unlock characters (you can crank the speed up by holding shift and ctrl).

Or don't, your call. I will be attending.

After losing the FIRST SCENARIO 4 times in a row I'd say don't. Unless you actually enjoy avoiding every battle and collecting stars.

I lost to it a dozen times or so, just show some diligence. Have fun when 2 Poppos and Tomomo show up :)

You know, I'd be ok with it if I was beaten by bad luck or even CPU skill. But I did some maths: my average dice roll on the for games (without modifiers) is around 2.7, so about average. The average CPU dice (just the players) is at 4.3. That just don't look right. I suspect shenanigans.

Sephiko and I had a fun private game set with my friendo Artz, although, this Saturday (and most Saturdays) I will/would most likely be late or flatout can't because I work late at nights doing security work. :(
Not to be confused with the one from the Talkhaus, please read this first.

If we're going by this then we have 4 hours.

A snow storm is coming so I might lose power... hopefully my real life RNG is decent.

Well this surely was a productive night. We played for about... 6 hours I think.

Some of these games were full of salt, but honestly I had a real blast with all you guys. And a few maniacal laughs too.

ACTUAL standings for tonight because Sephiko is a quitter yo:
Quark - 6, saltless
Sarusig - 2, quite salty
Potato - 1, a bit salty
Sephiko - 1, a bit salty (stabby stab stab)
Krawky Mc Krawkers - 1, a bit salty
Lead - 0, super salty

Awards for the night:

Salt moment award - Krawky, for getting 5 resurrection rolls failure in a row (even got an achievement)
Rolling Ones Award - Sarusig, Lead
Rich Mc Richersson - Potato, with more than 700 stars
Selfish traitor - Sarusig, singlehandedly giving a game to Quark
The meanie pants - Sarusig, with 14 kills
Comeback - Sarusig, from -3 to winning
Destiny hates me - Potato, with two wins stolen from him right under his nose
... hear the lamentations of their women - Quark, who crushed the night
Never sleeps - Quark, only one who attended all the games
Look mum I'm on TV - Sephiko, for dying turn one to a Seagull
Image

I will update the original posts with the full standings. Next meeting next week same time, I'll update the first post too for that.
Sephiko also suggested playing tomorrow, I'll let him post if he wants.
